The simplest way to solve this problem is to paint them. But you should notice that you cannot simply paint your old wall panels. Proper surface preparation is very necessary before the procedure of painting. Firstly, you need to eliminate the build-up on the paneling with the help of a good cleaner. Then apply a gloss remover and rub it. After half an hour, apply primer without removing the gloss remover. When it gets dry, reapply the primer and dry it overnight. Next day, add some caulking into the panel grooves and let it also dry overnight. When the caulking gets dried, your wall paneling gets ready to be painted. Paint the first coat of your regular paint. Dry it and apply the second coat, if necessary.
